Sentry

An error and performance tracking service for web, backend and mobile apps. We choose it when a failure at checkout or sign-up has to be caught right away.

WHY WE CHOOSE THIS

Users rarely report an error, they just leave. Sentry records every failure with context on where and for whom it happened, so the team fixes it before it hits conversion.

WHEN WE CHOOSE THIS TECHNOLOGY
TRIGGER 1

The product already has users

Every error at sign-up, checkout or in the client area means a lost customer.

TRIGGER 2

Frequent releases

The team ships updates regularly and needs to see quickly whether something new broke.

TRIGGER 3

A mobile app in the stores

An app failure cannot be fixed instantly, so it is important to know about it as early as possible.

HOW WE APPLY IT
01

Web apps on React and Next.js

Browser error collection with the stack trace and user actions before the failure.

02

Node.js backends

Tracking exceptions and slow requests to the API and database.

03

Mobile apps

Crash reports on iOS and Android with app version and device.

04

Release tracking

Linking errors to releases to see which update caused them.

Frequently asked questions

and answers to them

Ask a question
Do we need Sentry if we test the product?+

Yes. Tests catch expected scenarios, while real users find unexpected ones: other browsers, devices, slow connections. Sentry shows exactly these errors and how many people they affected.

Why Sentry and not server logs?+

It depends on scale, but logs only see the server. Sentry also collects errors in the browser and mobile app, groups identical ones, shows context and alerts the team, so no one has to dig through long logs.

Will Sentry collect customers' personal data?+

No, if it is configured correctly. We disable sending of sensitive fields, mask personal data and set up filters, so reports contain only the technical information needed to fix the error.

A business should be the first to know about errors in its product.

At GVSPACE we set up error tracking with Sentry for websites, web apps, backends and mobile apps. We connect the SDK, link errors to releases, and configure alerts and personal data masking. This way the team sees failures at sign-up, checkout or in the client area right after a release and fixes them before they noticeably affect conversion.
